Programs

We at WYBA are excited to announce programming for the 2009-2010 basketball season!

This year all offerings for youth in grades K-8 will be gender specific, and several programs will be run in conjunction with the Lanesboro Youth Basketball Association, our neighbor and partner at Mount Greylock Regional Middle/High School. By partnering with the Lanesboro Youth Basketball Association in grades 3-8 programming, we will foster friendships and regional community, both of which will assist our youth during their transition from elementary school to our regional middle/high school.

In-House League

This league is aimed towards youth of all ages, skill and interest levels. The goal of this league is to expose youth to the great game of basketball, teach them age appropriate basketball skills, and provide game and team experiences. Emphasis on basic skills, quality playing time, sportsmanship and teambuilding.
  • Kindergarten: Fun Sunday clinic run by the Assistant Williams College Basketball Coaches using lowered baskets.
    • Runs from December 13th through February 7th
    • 12:00 - 1:00 pm
  • Grades 1 & 2: Fun Sunday clinic run by the Assistant Williams College Basketball Coaches. Additional one-hour mid-week program during the week. Clinic-style program and side court games using lowered baskets.
    • Runs from December 10th through February 11th
    • Gender-specific
    • Girls: Sundays 1:00 - 2:00 pm, Tuesdays 3:00 - 4:00 pm
    • Boys: Sundays 2:00 - 3:00 pm, Thursdays 3:00 - 4:00 pm
  • Grades 3 & 4 (by gender): There will be 2 Williamstown teams and 2 Lanesboro teams. Practices for each town's own teams will be held in each town's respective gym. Games will alternate weekly between LES and WES. One practice and one game/week.
    • Games will be Friday evenings, 6:00 or 7:00 pm
    • Practices TBA
    • Assessment/placement clinic Friday, November 20th at WES (Girls: 5:30-6:30 pm, Boys: 6:30-7:30 pm)
    • Games start December 11th
  • Grades 5 & 6 (by gender): There will be 4 teams for each gender league as above. Players from the 2 towns will be integrated equally. Practices and games will alternate between WES and LES gyms. One practice and one game per week.
    • Games will be Wednesday evenings
    • Assessment/placement clinic November 12th @ WES (Girls: 5:30 - 6:30, Boys: 6:30 - 7:30)
    • Practices begin week of November 15th (Days/Times TBA)
    • Games run from December 2nd through February 10th
  • Grades 7 & 8 (by gender): Program offerings dependent on numbers: may have in-house component.
    • Assessment/placement clinic November 4th @ MGRHS, 6:00 - 8:00 pm.

Travel League

Williamstown, Lanesboro and New Ashford youth playing in our in house league (or another local in house program) are eligible to try out for our travel teams. Travel teams participate in the Berkshire County League.

There will be gender-specific travel teams for grades 3/4, 5/6 and 7/8. More information to follow as it becomes available.
